Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year!

It's that time of year again, when the smell of freshly sharpened pencils fills the air and the squeak of crisp new tennis shoes echoes down the hall: back to school! While it's hard to believe how quickly summer went, I know I am definitely ready to be back for another year of learning.

This is my first time writing a blog, so let me introduce myself and explain the purpose of this blog. My name is Miss Gardner, and I am one of the tutors here. This is the start of my fourth year in this wonderful district, and I am very excited to be back with my fantastic students! I work with students in third-sixth grade, focusing on math and reading in third-sixth grade and also science in fifth grade. Tutoring time happens at least one a week in each grade level, for at least thirty minutes. This is a great time for students to go deeper with their learning--to explore a new or challenging concept in depth, to review previous learning, or introduce new topics. We are so fortunate to have this small group time as it allows us (the tutors and the classroom teachers) to support EACH student.

The purpose of this blog is to keep you informed of what your student is working on during tutoring time. Throughout the year, we will developing into writers, readers, mathematicians, and scientists, and this will be the place where you can see where your student is on that journey. I will post here what each grade is working on so that you can talk with your student about what they are learning and how they are growing into better readers, writers, and mathematicians.

I'm looking forward to all the learning that awaits! There are so many wonderful adventures in store for this year!
